about

Aurora contains 4 tracks of music: 3 originally recorded for and released by Oophoi’s Penumbra label in 2005 and 2006 - Aurora, Gateway and The Portal’s Dreaming.
This release includes a longform version of the music, original artwork for the penumbra releases and artwork for jewel case - and is part of bringing the out of print music back into availability.

Aurora shimmers out of the darkness, the tonal colours rising like the cloud of a nebula over the horizon, bringing its own strange light before dropping back into the darkness.
It came out of the same sessions as ‘A Melancholy Light’ with its exploration of the twilight where light and shadow are almost the same.

Gateways, doors, portals.
Whether in physical reality or in the Dream these are places that separate or join different realms, different ways of being, different ways of perception.
In some traditions the portals are not inanimate objects that we just happen to pass through when moving from one place to another; they have Intent, Purpose, and Dreaming of their own.
It may be protecting, inviting or hold many other possibilities. Standing before the Portal, in the moment we pass through and as we arrive somewhere else we interact and co-create. We leave a memory of our passing within the portal as well as carrying our own memory and change within us.
These 2 tracks were in many ways inspired by this and early science fiction films, otherworldly and alien.

Aurora was recorded on a Korg D-16 portastudio with a borrowed Yamaha PSR 262 keyboard in September to October 2005.
The notes have a soft blurry/fuzzy edge to them that I have considered re-recording on better equipment – but have decided to leave as they are….

Gateway and The Portal’s Dreaming were recorded on the Korg D-16 with a Technics KN 1400 keyboard in January 2006.

I hope you enjoy the music.

Seren Ffordd UK

Seren Ffordd, (Star Road or Way of Stars), has been recording since 2004.
creating mainly soundscapes - which can be light / dark / noisy / strange by using acoustic sounds, effects & synths.
Everything is treated, carved and explored for unusual textures, dissonances, shades – allowing the evolving themes of each track or album to develop.
Occasionally 'music' has actually appeared as well.
