  The first act of any musician is to break the silence.
  Rending the quiet by pouring sound into the waiting space, as savagely as a lightning strike or as gently as an unfolding rose.
  
  I was intrigued by this sense of breaking, of the Fracture where the front of the soundwave disturbs the silence, creating the ripples that transform the still surface of a pond, Scattering reflections like a Shattered mirror.
  
  This album came out of a wish to hear sound Split and Torn.
  What would a sound sound like if the frequencies were Peeled apart like light in a rainbow, if tones or sections come at different times or from different parts of the stereo image?
  What would they sound like if their edges were Blurred, Curdled, Sliced - Merging into and out of each other?
  
  The ideas, music, titles and art all grew from this seed. This Breaking of the silence emerged together, not as a whole - but as the infinite flashes of light reflecting off spinning shards of glass.
  
  ‘Fractured’, is a journey into Splitting, Melting and Tearing. Many of the sounds are unrecognisable. Some appear more than once, but Slivered, Hacked, Severed into different shapes and tones.
  A few are heard as they occurred, a contrast to the Broken edges around them.
  One track includes a severe recycling of a previously released piece of music – the only other non acoustic sound is heard at the end of the album.
  
  The music is at times Slow, Complex, Noisy, Harsh – it is in places Beautiful, Dense, Spiky.
  
  Sources include: bird wing, water, tin foil, drum, gongs, cardboard, bells, beads, dice, gourds, voice, glass, bone whistle and flute.
  
  Recorded in the StarWeb studio between 2008 and 2013 with Roland VS2480, Korg D16, Korg MR1, TC M3000, Sony and Tascam minidisc recorders, Sennheiser and AKG microphones, Sonar 5.

  Fractured was originally finished in 2012 and it has been a long journey to its release. Many Thanks to Dennis at Databloem for releasing the music on his label.
  
  Fractured was originally intended to be the first of a 3 disc set of the same title. Part 3, ‘Shards’ has already been released and part 2, ‘7 broken Mirrors’, will be released in the future with all the original designed artwork. ... more
